THE PERFUME MAGAZINE LOGO & BANNER

Perfume Magazine Brand Consultant: Tim Girvin

Our logo was created by GIRVIN | Strategic Branding, based in Seattle, NYC, and Tokyo. This is a specially built font that their design team created exclusively for Perfume Magazine. It is a custom cutting, redrawn and founded on a type design originated in 1798 by Giambattista Bodoni, drawn from the archives of Firmin Didot, an exemplar of luxurious design principles for hundreds of years. GIRVIN's team built the "fume" trail, as well as composited the arrangement of the bottles as part of the branding strategy.

The Perfume Magazine Banner was designed exclusively by GIRVIN and is the property of The Perfume Magazine, LLC.

Welcome to The December Issue of The Perfume Magazine, our 4th Issue for 2011. Our Holiday Issue features several articles highlighting the season of giving and offers tips and suggestions for incredible holiday gifts for the Perfumista on your list this year. Or perhaps, a little treat for yourself.

The Holiday season is always a particularly fragrant time of year. The aromas fill the air - the crisp smell of a Noble Fir in your living room, the delicious and decadent scent of dozens of cookies in your kitchen, the savory smell of homemade potato latkes in your dining room, and of course - the smell of the Perfume counter at the mall, detectable from the parking lot. It happens once a year - a magical explosion of joy for the senses.

In this issue, we are pleased to announce an exciting Giveaway of 3 bottles of the latest Andy Tauer fragrance Cologne du Maghreb, just launched at Indie Scents. We also want to extend our sincerest thanks to our wonderful friends at Luckyscent and Beautyhabit for each sponsoring a spectacular contest for readers of The Perfume Magazine this December. We are excited and honored to announce that we are one of the media partners with Esxence, which will take us to Milan, Italy this Spring for several days and will present us with an exciting opportunity to offer our readers coverage on the best of the best that niche perfumery has to offer! Our new Interviews section is a collection of all of the incredible Interviews with fascinating people that we have amassed since our debut only 3 months ago. It is not to be missed!  We also welcome our new advertisers and partners; Jouany Perfumes, JoAnne Basset, Juliet Perfume, YOSH, The Perfumers Guild London and Elements Showcase NY.

As always, please feel free to sign our guest book by clicking on the link under the banner and show us the love. Be sure to tell your friends about The Perfume Magazine and, of course, you’re welcome to subscribe here for free. We also invite you to join us on Facebook and Twitter to receive updates in the quickest form.

Caron's Nuit de Noël

By Beth Schreibman Gehring
With Video
I adore the Christmas season and for so many reasons it is so magical to me. There are always several constants like the annual reading of Clement C. Moore’s “The Night before Christmas”, white truffles, lots of chocolate, roasted chestnuts, smoked salmon, New York City and gallons of bourbon milk punch and Champagne.
Of course my perfume of choice is Caron’s lovely Nuit de Noel, a fragrance that is completely saturated with the soul and scent of the holiday season....

The Art of Wearing Sandalwood
By Stephanie Nolasco
The weather in New York City has transformed from the sticky and steamy summer season to the cooler, crisp fall - the perfect time to unleash your sensual side. These months are ideal to put aside those light, fruity body splashes and opt for something warm and comforting, like a cashmere sweater or homemade apple cider. Sandalwood is currently one of the leading scents for the fall and winter months because its woodsy aroma doesn’t fade away with brisk winds or menacing storms. Rather, this natural treasure, prized in India for its medicinal properties, can conquer stress and leave you feeling like a goddess.

Universal Love Scented Meditation

By Nicola Pozzani

Since the beginning of time oils and plants have been burned for spiritual and healing purposes, as an offering to a higher power, to a specific cause or to someone in particular. However, with the civilization process, the use of scents for cleanliness and the birth of perfumery have overcome the spiritual use of scents. Christmas, which most people consider as a particular time of the year to share love with others, can be the perfect excuse to use essential oils to open our heart and expand our love.

Bond No. 9 Perfume; The Gift of Gold
A Cloak of Seduction
By Raphaella Barkley
The Bond No 9 Perfume is truly a “Gift of Gold”.  This Rose and Oud signature perfume is refined and expensive, a sacred cloak of erotic seduction. The scent reminds us of what a fragrance should do. It should draw you in, compelling your loved one to come closer and inhale. It is one long Arabian Nights’ journey, a magic carpet ride of a scent that is now, suddenly, one of my favorite fragrances. This is a fragrance that demands to be noticed, very dangerous indeed with the sumptuous, luxurious Oud and Rose... more

Guerlain Shalimar Parfum Initial
Profile by Mark David Boberick

Famed French Fragrance House Guerlain breathes stunning new life into a perfume legend.
The latest fragrance to carry on the Shalimar legacy is the brand-new Shalimar Parfum Initial. Parfum Initial is the final piece of the flanker trilogy puzzle – it narrows in on the only facet left to embrace – the floral heart. To say that Parfum Initial turns up the volume on the floral heart would actually be an understatement because really, this floral heart comes at you through a Bose surround-sound system.
